Chronic Illness Recovery Day – July 13th

At Recovered, we’re honoured to support the first annual Chronic Illness Recovery Day on July 13th, a day initiated by a group of recovery-minded, passionate advocates to:

  • Celebrate our full and progressing recoveries

  • Acknowledge and thank those who have supported us along the way

  • Offer support to others who are curious about recovery options

Recovery Day is about recognising all forms of long-term illness and the many ways people can find their way back to health and regain quality of life.

It’s for everyone on the recovery journey. Whether you consider yourself recovered or are making progress, you’re invited to take part.

This day is an opportunity to share your truth, thank those who have helped you, inspire others, and help build a compassionate, supportive community that recognises there isn’t just one way to heal. There are many.

The Recovery Day Badge and Logos

To mark the day, people are invited to use the “Recovery is Possible” badge or the Chronic Illness Recovery Day logo in whatever way feels right for them.

You can:

  • Simply post the badge or logo on its own with your words (no photo required).

  • Add the badge or logo to a personal photo if you want to share your face and story that way.

If you’d like help adding the logo to a photo, just ask! You can DM @recovered_stories or email hello@ive-recovered.com and we'll be happy to support you.

Using the badge or logo is completely optional. You can take part in any way that feels right for you.

Where are the logos?

Logos are available with transparent backgrounds for adding to photos, and there will also be poster-style versions with a coloured background you can share directly.

How to Take Part in Recovery Day

There’s no single way to get involved. The most important thing is to share hope, gratitude, and connection in a way that feels right for you.

You might choose to:

  • Acknowledge and thank the people, approaches, or communities that have supported you.

  • Share what recovery or progress means to you. For example:

    • “I’m recovering from very severe ME/CFS and no longer need a wheelchair indoors.”

    • “I’m still recovering but can now spend time with friends again.”

  • Use the Recovery Day badge or logo if you'd like. You can:

    • Add the badge or logo to a personal photo.

    • Or simply post the badge or logo on its own with your message.

  • You could link to places where recovery stories can be found, like our Recovered Stories.

  • Include the hashtag:

    #ChronicIllnessRecoveryDay or

    #RecoveryDay

so others can find and share posts.

Whether it’s a post, a thank-you message, a private note, or simply sharing a link, every contribution helps create a wave of hope and possibility.

A Note on Sharing and Respect

We know that not everyone feels comfortable using the word recovery, and that some in the ME/CFS community don’t believe recovery is possible and may be outspoken about it.

If you choose to share and receive any negative or challenging reactions, please know you’re not alone. You’re welcome to highlight these in DMs to Instagram account @recovered_stories, or email hello@ive-recovered.com and we’ll do our best to make sure you feel heard and supported.

Our hope is that Recovery Day remains a compassionate, understanding space for everyone to share their truth.

So Many Paths to Recovery

One of the most powerful lessons from the Recovery Stories shared on our site is that there’s no single prescription for getting better.

People talk about using many different approaches and supports, some well-known, some deeply personal. Below are examples of what individuals in our community have credited in their own stories.

These are not recommendations or endorsements, simply reflections of what people chose to share. There are many other paths to recovery out there.

The MindBody Reconnect and similar approaches help people listen to their body’s signals, process emotions, and reduce fight-or-flight responses.
