The Pain PT is a mind-body chronic pain practice run by Jim Prussack, a licensed physical therapist with extensive training in pain neuroscience and emotional healing. Instead of physical treatments or traditional rehab exercises, Jim helps clients understand and reverse the brain and nervous system patterns behind persistent pain.
His approach integrates emotional awareness, somatic tracking, and neuroplasticity, with a strong focus on education and guided practice. Clients can work with Jim one-on-one, join group classes, or subscribe to daily audio coaching sessions.
-
Clients can choose from three formats:
Daily audio reminders – a month of 10–15 minute guided recordings emailed daily to support nervous system regulation and pain recovery
Weekly group classes – two-hour live Zoom classes held weekly (Wednesdays, 12–2 pm Pacific) focused on emotional and somatic techniques; includes class recordings and a month of daily audio
One-to-one coaching sessions – 55-minute private sessions via telehealth with the option to receive session recordings and up to 5 months of audio guidance
All content is rooted in brain-based pain science and lived experience of recovery
Sessions can be booked online, and class replays or downloads are included for ongoing use

Jim holds a Masters in Physiotherapy but moved away from hands-on treatment after seeing the limits of structural approaches
He has trained with leaders in the pain science and TMS space, including Dr Peter O’Sullivan, Dr Howard Schubiner, and Georgie Oldfield
His work focuses on nervous system education, emotional processing, and helping people unlearn protective pain habits
There is no app or self-guided platform, but the daily audio series functions as a light-touch ongoing support tool

One individual shared a recovery journey in which sessions with Jim helped them resolve an IBS flare, muscle pain, fatigue, insomnia, and anxiety by addressing fear-based patterns driving their symptoms (https://podcasts.apple.com/nz/podcast/046-the-pain-pt-jim-prussack/id1291091376?i=1000424722812, https://www.tmswiki.org/forum/threads/my-ibs-flare-plus-many-others-success-story.29163)
A user on Reddit mentioned Jim’s somatic tracking videos as being especially helpful in supporting their partner with severe fatigue syndrome (https://www.reddit.com/r/SomaticExperiencing/comments/198wn37/help_for_my_gf_in_very_severe_fatigue_syndrome)
People frequently mention the simplicity of Jim’s explanations and how his approach made emotional and body-based work feel more doable compared to more clinical or complex frameworks (https://www.youtube.com/@ThePainPT)
