CFS Recovery Programme (Miguel Bautista)

  • Led by Miguel Bautista, CFS Recovery (also known as Recovery Jumpstart) is a high-cost brain retraining and recovery coaching programme marketed for ME/CFS, long COVID, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue. It combines structured mindset training with community and group coaching.

  • The programme focuses on exposure therapy, mindset reframing, and thought-catching techniques, delivered through video modules, group support calls, and community interaction. It aims to help participants challenge fear-based thought patterns and gradually expand activity levels. However, participants note that the programme contains little to no emotional processing work, parts work, or somatic techniques beyond the core mindset approach.

Originally sold as a lifetime-access programme with small-group calls and monthly 1:1 coaching, the structure has shifted to larger group calls (sometimes over 100 participants) and reduced 1:1 time, with ongoing membership fees for continued access.

  • While some people report positive outcomes, others have raised serious concerns:

    • Limited toolset – No dedicated work on emotions, parts work, somatic release, or trauma processing, which some see as key to recovery.

    • Programme changes after purchase – Shift from small-group sessions to large group calls, reduced 1:1 coaching, and loss of lifetime access unless additional payment or testimonial provided.

    • Allegations of paid-for-positive reviews – Claims that members were offered incentives to post positive Trustpilot reviews or recovery videos without disclosure.

    • Pressure and blame – Reports of participants being told their lack of progress was due to not following instructions, which some found invalidating.

    • Control of communication – Discouraged participation in other ME/CFS communities, with suggestions that discussing concerns could harm others’ recovery.

    • Ethical and business concerns – Multiple accounts from past participants and healthcare professionals have questioned the ethics, pricing, and transparency of the programme.

    • Partnership controversy – The merger with Raelan Agle’s Facebook group upset some community members who felt the commercial arrangement was not made clear.

    • Reported fees between £1,600 and £4,900 GBP (approx $2,000–$6,000 USD) for initial programme access.

    • Ongoing membership in the related “Academy” costs approx £80–£230 GBP ($100–$297 USD) per month.

  • No formal public discounts. Some participants report being offered free months or reduced fees in exchange for producing positive reviews or recovery videos.
