Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS)
-
Developed by Annie Hopper, DNRS is a structured brain retraining programme originally created to help people with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) and later expanded to other chronic conditions. It is based on the idea that a chronically overactive limbic system can perpetuate illness and symptoms.
-
The programme combines brain retraining rounds, thought-stopping, and incremental training to rewire patterns of fear and stress in the brain. It uses a highly scripted, prescriptive daily practice that blends visualisation, movement, self-talk, and behaviour shifts to calm the limbic system and promote recovery.
Training is delivered via:
Online course or DVD set with self-paced video instruction.
Live 3-day seminars (online or in person), although some people with ME/CFS find the initial format too intensive and prefer spreading the content over time.
Access to a private online community for peer support.
-
Many participants report meaningful improvements, especially for MCS, but recovery rates for ME/CFS are mixed.
Some find the prescriptive language and scripted nature of the training too rigid or unnatural.
The wording of the self-talk sequences does not resonate with everyone.
The original format was developed for MCS and may not directly address post-exertional malaise (PEM), though many still adapt it successfully.
Some people combine DNRS with other approaches such as ANS Rewire, EFT, or somatic work to cover emotional processing and trauma release.
Requires a significant daily time commitment, which can be challenging for those with severe symptoms.
-
DNRS sometimes offers small seasonal discounts or bundles.
No formal illness-specific concessions, though resales of DVD sets in online support groups can reduce costs.
-
No formal public discounts. Some participants report being offered free months or reduced fees in exchange for producing positive reviews or recovery videos.
