The Edison Effect is a recovery programme for ME/CFS and related conditions, created by Anj Granieri, a recovered patient and coach. The programme is built on the Four Pillars of Recovery — Nervous System Reshaping, Expansion/Contraction (pacing), Supporting the Body, and Personal Transformation. Unlike methods that rely on a single approach, The Edison Effect integrates multiple recovery strategies and emphasises bio-individuality, recognising that each person’s recovery path will be unique.

The course includes over 40 video modules, live coaching, and community support. It is delivered in three tiers (self-study, study + support, and lifetime). The framework uses the Four Pillars:
Nervous System Reshaping – brain retraining, top-down and bottom-up processing, mindfulness, and somatic work.
Expansion/Contraction Cycle – learning baseline awareness, pacing, and safe expansion without boom-and-bust crashes.
Supporting the Body – functional medicine principles, nutrition, sleep, reducing inflammation, and addressing co-conditions like POTS, MCAS, and NMH.
Personal Transformation – attachment work, trauma healing, boundaries, people-pleasing, identity, and self-compassion.
Students are guided to assess which pillar to focus on first, depending on their main obstacles, and then “reinvest” the gains from each baseline expansion into further healing.

This is one of the only recovery programmes that includes a doctor-recommended exercise physiologist-led movement plan, adapted for ME/CFS.
The programme aims to end the “pacing vs brain retraining” debate by combining them: pacing as an embodied practice alongside nervous system retraining.
Anj emphasises that there is no single cure, but recovery is possible with ongoing attention to the Four Pillars.
Bio-individuality is a key theme: different pillars may be more relevant at different stages or for different root triggers.

Many appreciated the Four Pillars framework for helping map a personalized recovery journey rather than using just one method - which helped them feel seen and empowered rather than overwhelmed by options. (TMS Wiki forums, recovery-focused Facebook groups)
Participants frequently highlight the trackers and health logs as game-changers—consistent monitoring helped them track baseline progress and notice small but meaningful shifts over time. (Anj’s program page testimonials, where the "Tracker Bundle / Health Log" is included as a key tool)
The emphasis on pacing made practical sense without feeling like a limitation, leading to more sustainable recovery improvements. (Reddit r/cfs forum, where users praise Anj’s pacing strategies)
Many said that the integration of emotional and attachment work into the recovery journey was essential, especially for those who felt stuck using only brain retraining or pacing tools. It helped them understand deeper blockages. (Facebook recovery conversations, including posts about “Reinvestment back into recovery” and emotional shifts)
The combination of movement/exercise support (via an exercise physiologist) plus all four pillars—rather than focusing on trauma or pacing alone—was cited as uniquely practical and encouraging. One member noted that it "finally made all the pieces fit together" in a way no other programme had. (Virtual Summit attendee reflections)
