Dr Howard Schubiner, a physician and leading mind–body medicine researcher, offers a comprehensive online course based on his decades of clinical and research work. The course builds on his free Reign of Pain programme, but goes deeper into practical tools, structured exercises, and ongoing support for those with chronic pain and mind–body conditions.
-
The course provides structured teaching, video modules, guided exercises, and worksheets, usually spread over 6–8 weeks.
It includes:Education – Understanding the neuroscience of pain, the role of neural pathways, and how symptoms become “learned.”
Emotional Processing – Techniques to identify, feel, and safely express hidden emotions that may drive symptoms.
Somatic Tracking – Noticing sensations without fear, retraining the nervous system to feel safe.
Daily Practices – Writing, reflection, meditation, and self-compassion exercises.
Integration – Applying techniques into daily life to reduce fear, calm the brain, and reverse symptom patterns.
-
This is the paid, self-paced version of Schubiner’s teaching, designed to provide structure for those who want more than the free Reign of Pain course.
It draws on the same principles as his books (Unlearn Your Pain, Unlearn Your Anxiety and Depression).
Schubiner is co-author of The Hidden Psychology of Pain and co-developer of Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT).
The course is widely used by people with ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, chronic back pain, and Long Covid symptoms.
-
Participants valued the clear structure of the modules, which helped them stay accountable compared with the free resources (TMS Wiki discussions – link).
The combination of emotional awareness and somatic tracking was cited as especially powerful for reducing fear of symptoms (Reddit r/TMS – link).
Users noted that guided exercises and worksheets made it easier to apply theory into practice (Curable community mentions – link).
Several found the compassionate tone of Schubiner’s teaching reassuring, especially when symptoms flared (Facebook mind–body recovery groups – link).
